ESL has a strong focus on technology and innovation in education, earning Microsoft’s Mentor School recognition (2012) for its use of ICT in teaching, particularly to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with special needs through game-based learning and digital tools.
Since 2016, ESL has actively participated in Erasmus projects on coding, robotics, and STEM. It has also developed a strong space science program, hosting astronauts and scientists like John D. Olivas and Pedro Machado. In 2023, ESL organized an ARISS contact with astronaut Josh Cassada and participated in the ESA ARIEL Mission via ExoClock. The school’s students won first place at the 2023 LeoLabotorium–Space Sciences Summer Camp.
By integrating STEM and space exploration into education, ESL aims to inspire students to become future problem-solvers in science and technology.
